Construction Equipment Production Growth
Japanese construction equipment industry grew up with the support of construction
investment accompanying the high level of growth of the Japanese economy. Later,
the industry became sluggish due first of all to the oil crisis followed by the
collapse of the bubble economy and then the Asian economic crisis.
Since about 1975 the trend has moved away from bulldozers, which were initially
the major products within the industry, towards hydraulic excavators.
This illustrates something very important about work carried out using construction
equipment, indicating a shift from manufacturing base maintenance to lifestyle-related
maintenance.
