| The Construction equipment industry is making efforts for the mechanization of various types of construction work. As a challenge to new technologies, we are also developing future construction equipment utilizing technologies in different fields other than those of construction equipment. Development of machines for use underwater and in disaster areas, robots for dangerous work and easy-to-recycle construction equipment are just some of the challenges we will be tackling. |

| There was a major avalanche at Mount Unzen-Fugen.
In March 1995, we succeeded with the test for removing rock and sand sediments
using unattended equipment. The large-scale execution of using 27 construction
machines including bulldozers, hydraulic excavators, etc., equipped with radio
guidance and ranging systems utilizing a satellite was the first in the world
and was appraised highly as the next generation technology that can only be realized
by Japan. In such way, the application of technologies concerning unattended equipment and automation for use in poor and extreme environments such as mud, underwater and disaster areas is expected to grow in various fields. |
