1990

April
Japan Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) was established as a private organization, and split from Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers, an incorporated association
May
The establishment of CEMA, an incorporated association, was resolved at the inauguration meeting. 
Tetsuya Katada of Komatsu Ltd. was appointed as the first Chairman.
June
The establishment of CEMA, an incorporated association, was approved by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (the current Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).
November
CEMA unveiled its official logo.

1991

February
The European Community rescinded its anti-dumping duties.
March
CEMA amended its Articles of Incorporation.
CEMA published the “Manual for Anti-monopoly Laws”.
The in-house magazine CEMA MONTHLY was launched.
May
CEMA signed the “Memorandum for the Intercontinental Statistics” with CECE, CIMA and EMI.
October
CEMA published the “Manual for Quotations and Order Sheets”.

1992

March
CEMA published the “Introduction of CEMA Activities and Anti-monopoly Laws”.
CEMA released the first statistics on shipment value.
CEMA released its first demand forecast.
May
CEMA hosted the sixth conference of the ISC in Tokyo.
CEMA published a new paradigm, “Toward the Further Advancement of CEMA”.

1993

June
The Construction Equipment (CE) industry became eligible to employment adjustment subsidies.

1994

August
CEMA began regular press conferences by the Chairman

1995

January
In response to the Great Hanshin Earthquake, CEMA set up a contact point for recovery support.
May
CEMA began a campaign to improve the industry’s image  
June
CEMA published the “Safety Manual”.
July
CEMA started offering a product liability (PL) insurance plan. 

1996

January
The PR magazine for overseas “CEMA NEWS DIGEST” was launched.
March
CEMA established a supporting member status and started accepting applications for it. 
April
CEMA hosted an International Technological Exchange meeting in Yokohama.
August
A working-level meeting between CEMA and the KOCEMA (Korea Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association) was held. 

1997

May
CEMA underwent an organizational reform including committees.
CEMA published the “Guidelines on Pre-assessment at Product Design Stages for Recycling”.
August
CEMA launched a homepage “CEMA WORLD”
September
CEMA published the “Guidelines for Unified Safety Standards and Warning Signs for Construction Equipment”.

1998

March
CEMA published guidelines for smoother, more efficient supplies of CE repair parts. 
November
CEMA launched the “Voluntary Action Plan for Environmental Conservation”.

1999

March
CEMA signed an Intercontinental Statistics agreement with CECE, CIMA, EMI and KOCEMA.
June
CEMA established a voluntary regular inspection program for mobile cranes.

2000

March
 CEMA compiled the “Year 2000 Vision of Japan’s Construction Equipment Industry”. 
May
CEMA celebrated its 10th anniversary.
September
CEMA began official exchanges with the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA) 
October
CEMA began posting used CE information on its website.

2001

July
CEMA developed the “Action Plan to Promote Recycling of Construction Equipment at the End of its Life”.

2002

April
CEMA renewed its website to include members-only pages. Subsequently publication of the “CEMA MONTHLY” ceased. 
November
CEMA created the “Maintenance Certification Scheme for Concrete Pumping Trucks”.

2003

March
CEMA developed the “Guidelines for Correction of Quotations under Misleading Representations”.
CEMA developed the “Guidelines regarding Anti-theft Devices for Construction Equipment”.
 
September
CEMA laid down the “Code of the Fair Trading Center”.
November
CEMA developed the “Guidelines for Fair Representation and Relevant Matters”.
December
CEMA established the fair trading center.

2004

June
CEMA amended its Articles of Incorporation.

2005

May
CEMA celebrated its 15th anniversary.

2006

March
CEMA issued the “Research Study Paper on the Outlook of Japan’s Construction Equipment Industry (Vision 2005)”.
CEMA began official exchanges with the Indian Earthmoving and Construction Industry Association Limited (IECIAL – the present Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association, iCEMA).
October
The so-called Off-road Act (Act on Regulations for Emissions from Non-Road Vehicles) was enacted in Japan.

2007

July
CEMA hosted the first IAC (International Association Committees: a global industrial association for construction equipment) conference in Kamakura.
November
CEMA opened a recycling management center.

2008

March
CEMA revised its “Voluntary Action Plan for Environmental Conservation” to change the reduction target from 10% to 15%. 
CEMA released the “Manual to Promote Recycling of Counter-weights”.
November
The recycling management center began a nationwide rollout of the used rubber crawler recycling program.  
The construction equipment industry became a designated industry for the government’s emergency credit guarantee system.

2009

October
A special committee was formed to consider changing CEMA’s corporate status.

2010

May
CEMA celebrated its 20th anniversary and issued a book about its 20-year History.
CEMA revised the paradigm “Toward the Further Advancement of CEMA”.

2011

March
The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. CEMA set up a contact point for consultation.
September
The Cabinet Office granted permission to change CEMA’s corporate status to a general incorporated association.
CEMA amended its Articles of Incorporation.
CEMA issued the “Guidelines for Service Activities” following the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster.

2012

March
CEMA set up an in-house system for compliance.
October
CEMA amended its Articles of Incorporation.
November
CEMA developed the “Future Vision for CEMA”.

2013

May
CEMA amended its Articles of Incorporation.
December
CEMA compiled the “Q&A Manual on Anti-monopoly Laws for the Construction Equipment Industry”.

2014

April
CEMA set up the Research Subcommittee.
May
CEMA developed the “Action Plan for a Low Carbon Society (2020 Targets)” for the construction equipment manufacturing industry.

2015

March
CEMA developed the “New Action Plan for a Low Carbon Society (2030 Targets)” for the construction equipment manufacturing industry.

CEMA celebrated its 25th anniversary.
June
CEMA set up an innovation committee.

2017

The CEMA developed the “Action Plan to Promote Fair Transactions with Partner Companies”.
April
 The CEMA’s Subcommittees by Types of Equipment were reorganized into the Subcommittees by Areas.

 The CEMA revised the “Provisions for Administration of the New Construction Equipment Certification System for Export”.
November
 The CEMA revised the “Provisions for Administration of the Voluntary Regular Inspection Program for Mobile Cranes”.

2019

March
CEMA revised the “Designs of Warning Signs for Unified Safety Signage”.
December
 The CEMA made public a movie clip for recruiting service personnel.

2020

May
CEMA amended its Articles of Incorporation.
CEMA published “CEMA’s 30-year History” to commemorate the 30th anniversary.
July
CEMA submitted a public comment regarding the investigations on mobile cranes under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 of the United States.

2021

February
 The CEMA submitted a public comment regarding a request by the Republic of South Africa for a tariff increase on off-highway trucks.
May
CEMA submitted a public comment to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) chemical substances under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) section 6(h).
July
CEMA submitted a compiled written request for the achievement of carbon neutrality (CN) to the Japanese government.
December
CEMA submitted a public comment to the USEPA regarding the newly regulated substances under the TSCA.

2022

July
CEMA submitted a compiled written request (the 2022 version) for the achievement of carbon neutrality to the Japanese government.
CEMA submitted a public comment regarding Canada’s proposed regulations to prohibit decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE).
