Submission of a petition to the Japanese government regarding reciprocal tariff measures by the US government

In response to the US government's announcement on April 3rd that it would impose reciprocal tariffs on a country-by-country basis, CEMA has compiled a “Request Regarding US Reciprocal Tariffs.”

Summary of the petition

  1. Urging the U.S. government to abolish reciprocal tariffs; and
  2. Implementing necessary economic measures for domestic companies that are affected, as well as the construction equipment industry as a whole.

On April 16, CEMA Chairman Yamamoto handed over the Request to Mr. Kazushige Tanaka, Director-General, Trade Policy Minister's Secretariat (Manufacturing Industries Bureau) of METI , requesting that the government take action. The contents of the Request were also presented, and realization of them was urged, to the Liberal Democratic Party's Political Affairs Research Committee at its Comprehensive Task Force on US Tariff Measures meeting held on the same day.
